Hi! Who are you and what do you do? I am Linda King and I have been making, painting and creating all my life.
What’s your background? Raised in Cornwall on the river Fowey I had a free and fortunate childhood.. riding and on the river. My mother sold saddlery, did a bit of horse breeding and dealing, dabbled in collecting and selling paintings. I went 'out of county' to Plymouth College of Art and Design and studied Graphic Design but this (parental) choice was rectified years later when, after I moved to East Sussex in the mid 80's, I did the Art Foundation at Hastings College. One way or another I have always found a way to keep afloat. My family have a wheeler dealer a survivalist streak, which I have thankfully inherited, and there is a strong creative theme running through both sides.
Explain what you do in 100 words I am now focusing on painting on plywood the fine detail and decorative arts that I love and also paint by murals by commission
What jobs have you done other then being an artist? Life model, fruit picker, painter and decorator, waitress, barmaid..
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Follow your instincts
If there were one dead artist that you could hang out with for a day, who would that be? Antoni Gaudi
